Happily painting away

Well 2021 has been a really productive year for me. I have completed a number of good size oil paintings and 7 small birds in acrylic. I have continued on with the theme of East Coast Beaches. The only change was the canvas size. My goal for the year was to use up some of the canvas stash I have on hand. I have painted most of my 16 x16” canvasses and am now working on 12 x 36”.

Flight of the Heron

This beautiful bird would circle the marsh twice and land, take off and do it again and again and again. So majestic. I was pretty determined to catch a few photos of it in flight. Photo references for painting. I knew i would be painting it.

It was such a hot day I don’t think it could make up its mind what to do. The sky was perfect with soft blues with hazy summer clouds. What I remember most about the day was the incredible heat. We walked the trails around the outside of the park, had our hats on and still managed to be overcome from the sun and heat. There was absolutely available shade at all.

Where Sea and Sky Meet

Every now and then you find a place so very special that you just have to soak in all of its moods. This was a quiet moment. A moment of healing. Soul soothing. I could have stayed there forever. I love that you really could not tell where the sea meets the sky. Just enough haze that they both seemingly went on forever. Way beyond what the eye can see. I tried to imagine what bay be out there…just beyond

I find the ocean to be so fascinating. How in one moment it can be so serene. Gentle. The be changeable. Become almost angry. So much to paint!

Off the trail

This past summer we went on many day tripping adventures looking for places to paint and take photos. At one point I turned to look behind me. The view stopped me in my tracks. I loved seeing the fog retreating promising a nice afternoon. The colours were still soft as the sun had not yet burned through. The rocks we starting to glow through the filtered light. A painting waiting to happen.

Bearyn

I recently donated a Pet Portrait as a prize to RedHead Strays helping Stray Cats Strut. I had the honour of painting this handsome doggie for his proud owner. Beary is a beautiful Belgian Shepherd.

I love to be able to share what I do to help raise funds for select causes – and the look on the faces of the recipient is pretty wonderful.
